Key suspect in Entebbe women murders, Katongole seeks bail in the high court

One of the key suspects in the murders of women in Entebbe, Wakiso district last year has applied for bail in the High Court.

Ivan Katongole, a businessman dealing in exportation of fish is charged with the murder of a one Rose Namuli who was a hair dresser at Mpala village. Her decomposing  body was discovered in a banana plantation. On 24th July 2017, pOLICE arrested Katongole and 2 other people; Hellen Nabagala and Andrew Kizito as suspects in murder. The three are currently held at Kigo prison awaiting trial before the High court. However having spent  over a year on remand, Katongole through his lawyers ; Caleb Alaka and Evans Ochiene asked the High court to release him on bail pending trial. He advances several grounds for his application including the fact that the DPP has indefinitely held him on remand on claims that he has fresh pending murder charges against him. In the new charges the DPP alleges that Katongole murdered another 17 year old girl known as Sarah Wanyana, a resident of Jjumba central. The court has said it will consider hearing his application on 24th/September .
