IGG to use online wealth declaration for public leaders

The Inspector General of Government will use the recently appointed Leadership Code tribunal to crack down on government officials who fail to declare their assets and wealth as mandated by the law. According to the deputy IGG George Bamugemereire, many public servants fail to declare their wealth and assets once they get into public office and even when they are leaving. This was largely blamed on the absence of a tribunal without which the Inspectorate could not crack the whip on the officials since its mandate is only limited to accepting declarations and investigating them. Bamugemereire spoke at the launch of the Self registration module of the office’s Online Declaration System.#NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition
