UMA decries treatment of health workers

The Uganda Medical Association has raised issues about the treatment of health workers who are key in fighting the spread of COVID-19 and treating those who are ailing. ///////// RUN UNDERLAY /////////A statement signed by the Secretary General of the Medical Association Dr. Mukuzi Muhereza says they have recorded incidents of battering of health workers over the past one week. He added that whereas health workers have been listed as essential workers supposed to work during the lockdown, they are struggling to get stickers to reach their workplaces. Muhereza also raises the issue of a lack of protective equipment, urging workers not to risk their lives if their safety is not guaranteed. They have asked government to enable health workers reach patients to be able to do their work. On Thursday, the Minister of Health Dr. Jane Aceng said buses and government vehicles will transport health workers to and from home and their areas of operation.#NTVNews
