Two legislators arrested over COVID-19 protests

Two Members of Parliament have been arrested for reportedly mobilizing protesters in the northern Uganda town of Gulu to demand the closure of Elegu border with South Sudan.

The two legislators, Odonga Otto and Gilbert Olanya were caught with placards, which indicated that Northern Uganda did not have the capacity to handle increasing cases of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of today, Uganda has a cumulative total of over 457 Coronavirus positive cases, with Elegu border responsible for the sharp rise in the last few days.
