Digital migration maybe the biggest disruptions in Uganda’s television creating a digital gap between the people in rural and urban areas. Many people, especially in villages in the country, cannot afford the equipment needed for digital TV or subscription.
The Chinese government through service providers Star times are implementing a satellite TV project of about 12 million dollars worth in 10,000 villages in Africa.
In Uganda, 500 villages are going to be beneficiaries of this project which will help install free satellite TV equipment in schools, health centres and youth community centres.
