In 2016, an earthquake struck Rakai and Kyotera districts, causing the deaths of four people, scores of injuries and loss of property. The government pledged help to the residents, who were in dire need. Three years after the earthquake, whose epicentre was in Tanzania, no one has come to their rescue. Instead, the Uganda government sent about shs 738m to the Tanzanian victims but abdicated its responsibility to improve the lives of its citizens.
