Natural resources committee chair explains rural electrification delays

The Chairperson of Parliament’s Natural Resources Committee Keefa Kiwanuka has told NTV that the main reason a 400 million dollar world bank project to connect one million people to the national electricity grid was delayed was because of deferring positions taken by Ministry of Energy officials.
Speaking to NTV, Kiwanuka said that the project stalled because some ministry officials kept changing positions on which entity should implement the multi billion shillings project.
This comes in the wake of Parliament taking interest in the affairs of the Rural Electrification Agency, whose officials are being investigated for corruption.
