The outgoing members of the Medical Arbitration Board have called for the amendment of the Workers Compensation Act so that it can be more responsive to the plight of those injured in the course of their employment.
The outgoing board chairperson, Dr. Edward Naddumba, says the board is overwhelmed by the number of cases arising from employees’ complaints and its composition needs to be increased to cater for the large number and complexity of cases reported. During the board handover, the minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development Janat Mukwaya also revealed that her ministry is working on a policy to protect the rights domestic servants.
