Human rights commission asks Govt’ to compesate torture victims

As Uganda prepares to join the rest of the world to commemorate June 26th, a day set aside to support of survivors of torture, the Uganda Human Rights Commission wants government to pay the outstanding 50 million shillings in compensation to torture victims. The commission chairperson Med Kaggwa says cases of torture in Uganda have persisted despite the available legal framework. He points out the police force as leading in torturing Ugandans, according the 2018 report on state of human rights
