Bank of Uganda maintains that together with the Ministry of Finance, did issue sufficient warnings to members of the public against transactions around the high-risk cryptocurrency.
Dr Adam Mugume, the Executive Director in charge of Research at the Central Bank, says financial institutions used by some of the now closed cryptocurrency firms, are not at any fault. He was responding to media requests for clarification on the saga that has seen some members of the public lose upto 10 Billions over months around cryptocurrency scams.
