Court to decide on UCC directive to suspend 39 journalists next week

The High court has set the 23rd May, next Thursday, as the date on which it will decide whether the Uganda Communications Commission has the mandate to ask 39 journalists to step aside from their media roles and allow investigations into allegations of inciting violence in relation to live broadcasts of Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi a.k.a Bobi Wine. The resolution came in a ruling by Justice Lydia Mugambe. She was hearing arguments between Uganda Journalists Association and the Uganda Communications Commission. The Journalists’ association is seeking a temporary injunction, restraining the commission from enforcing its directive to suspend 39 journalists.#NTVNews
