Court throws Jinja East MP Nathan Nabeta out of parliament, orders new election

The Court of Appeal has thrown out NRM’s Nathan Igeme Nabeta as Jinja East Constituency MP on grounds of falsification of election results.

Three justices including former deputy chief Justice Steven Kavuma, Richard Buteera and Paul Mugamba ordered the Electoral Commission organises fresh elections to fill the post that they have now declared vacant.

The justices also declined to declare Nabeta’s political rival FDC’s Paul Mwiru as MP, reasoning that they can not also be seen based on falsified results to determine the winner of an election.
