Figures from the Uganda national bureau of statistics show that Uganda’s mining sector has continued to grow over the years hence ranking it 7th as the most lucrative enterprise in Uganda despite institutional and regulatory challenges affecting the sector. But as the ministry of energy and mineral development seeks to make the sector more lucrative to both Ugandan and government, the ministry is seeking approval to amend the 2003 mining act, which they say is weak.
